How to play Star Battle

Take a moment with Star Battle before moving to another game. Place one star in each row, column and region, with no touching stars even diagonally. Keep the game area visible while you use its controls. Compare the starting position with the example in the Guide. Choose a clear next step rather than rushing through the instructions.

Solve ten 6×6 puzzles with one star in every row, column and region. These boards use the one-star rule.

Try a deliberate move

After a move, check what changed. Decide which rule explains the new state before acting again. Use the example to check your reasoning.

Your goal

Place one star in each row, column and region, with no touching stars even diagonally. The feedback beside the game helps you follow the round. Follow this game’s rules rather than another version’s.

Step by step

  1. Tap to place a star, mark a cell or clear it.
  2. Respect fixed starter stars.
  3. Check rows, columns and coloured regions.
  4. Check puzzle verifies the final arrangement.

Controls

Click or tap squares or graph edges. Number boards include a digit pad. Undo reverses the previous change; Check puzzle validates the solution. Keep the playing area visible while using these controls. Contact us with the game and device if a control does not respond.

A useful example

A placed star rules out all eight neighbouring squares. Your next round may have a different position, so inspect it before acting. Take a moment to compare.

Watch out for this

Different rows do not make diagonal neighbours legal. Read the feedback to see why an action did not have the expected result. Locate the buttons and input area before beginning a long round. Use the on-screen labels to avoid an accidental restart.
